Housetable is a construction and renovation
lending platform that lets credit unions
and banks offer renovation HELOCs underwritten
against a home's after-renovation value,
without those institutions needing to build
or staff a renovation lending program themselves.
Upon our engagement, we broadened
the platform considerably — unifying
the borrower's loan application and renovation-
management experience into a single portal,
and developing two additional portals,
for contractors and lending institutions,
as an integral part of the overall process.

Housetable's early product served only
homeowners directly, and even then, split one
connected process across two separate tools.
Contractors and lending institutions were already
integral to that same process — contractors
were paid through it, lending institutions
underwrote and monitored it — yet neither
had a dedicated experience of their own.

Applying for a loan and managing the resulting renovation — tracking progress, paying
contractors — lived in separate applications, requiring homeowners to move between
tools for what was, to them, a single ongoing project.

As Housetable scaled, serving the homeowner alone was no longer sufficient —
contractors and lending institutions were already core participants in the same process,
and continued growth depended on giving each of them a dedicated experience
of their own, not tools built solely around the homeowner's journey.

The engagement began with a UX audit,
which shaped how the borrower experience
came together, and continued into developing
the contractor and lender portals as new
capabilities within the platform.
